Tiger Balm and mosquito bites

During the summer, mosquitos are very active. They keep us awake at night with their irritating buzzing. Even worse, a mosquito bite can lead to hours of infuriating itching and scratching. So what can you do to combat these annoying pests? Tiger Balm offers a simple and effective solution!

A daily irritant

The arrival of summer also brings with it the return of mosquitos and their irritating bites. The female mosquitos go in search of the daily nourishment they need to survive and to allow their eggs to grow. For this they need the protein that they can find in human blood. Which is why they feed on us, usually in the evening or during the night.

A mosquito bite usually leads to itching. When they penetrate our skin, they 'inject' a small amount of their own saliva into the bite. This saliva contains an anti-coagulant, which makes the blood more fluid and easier for the mosquito to drink. The natural reaction of the body to this anti-coagulant is to produce histamine. In effect, this is a small allergic reaction that leads to itching, swelling and redness. The intensity of this reaction can vary from person to person.

A natural remedy for mosquito bites

Tiger Balm is best known as a remedy that provides relief and relaxation for stiff muscles and joints, but it can also be used to soothe the itching caused by insect bites. You can use both Tiger Balm Red and Tiger Balm White for this purpose. Just rub some onto and around the bite and let the balsam do its work!

Keeping a pot of Tiger Balm on your bedside cabinet is always a good idea. And don't forget to take some with you when you go on your summer holiday!

How does Tiger Balm provide relief for mosquito bites?

Tiger Balm contains camphor, menthol and the essential oils of mint, cloves, cajeput and cinnamon (only Tiger Balm Red), which together have a painkilling effect. This reduces the pain and itching caused by mosquito bites and other insect stings. At the same time, the blood circulation is also stimulated, so that the skin recovers and heals more quickly. The essential oils further help to regulate the body's immunological reaction.

Because Tiger Balm also has many other useful applications, it is a good idea to always keep some handy.
